Winter Wonderland

Cold? What cold?

New Yorkers are not intimidated by foul weather. After all that snow was dumped on the city over the weekend, residents and some curious tourists went to Central Park armed to the teeth with winter gear. Even the dog above feels so confident about how he looks in the freezing 27-degree Fahrenheit weather.

Dogs will be dogs. There's plenty of parks in New York City with "dog runs" - safe areas that allow man's best friend to run unleashed. At Central Park, they're scattered just about everywhere. Dogs socializing with fellow canines can bring about an energy like there's no tomorrow, especially with so much snow to play around with.

Some dogs though can be quite timid.

While some dogs have a stamina more than their owners can handle.

Of course, it's just not the dogs having fun in Central Park. Kids came in full force too, riding on sleds pulled by their parents who are just too glad to come out from their Upper West Side apartments. For most kids living in the Big Apple, sledding at the hilly parts of Central Park is what makes their winter really memorable. Even these parents remember doing the same thing when they were kids.

If there's no sled, an inflatable tube will do just fine.

As long as a tireless Daddy pulls the sled, the Kid won't mind if it snows everyday.

And kids will be kids when they're sledding. Skiing and snowboarding will have to follow much later.

So who says New Yorkers hibernate when it snows madly? If it's not Fido barking loudly at Central Park last Sunday, it's the shrill voice of kids that merrily filled the wintry air.

Merry Christmas!

  6. You sure are going to have a White Christmas! Maligaya, maski malamig na Pasko sa iyo, pero nakakainggit din. Watch out for those trigger-happy NY undercover cops before you throw a snow ball LOL.
