This is what greeted me when I opened my apartment's window this morning: snow on the footsteps of the fire exit. The first snowstorm of the season came in yesterday afternoon, blanketing much of the Northeast from Virginia to southern New England with snow anywhere from 10 to 24 inches deep. Travel is disrupted just 5 days before Christmas. Many passengers are stranded in airport terminals and train stations. Meanwhile, life in New York City goes on...a bit slowly.
No amount of snow is stopping this guy walking in front of my apartment building on a Sunday morning. That includes me.
I doubt if these bikes will prove useful for now.
The subway is thankfully running.
A forgotten casualty of the storm.
No one wants to sit on these park chairs this morning.
Digging-up: sidewalk has to shoveled for safe passage.
Or make the clean-up easier with a snow blower.
Roads are cleared by snow plows of the Department of Sanitation.
Hello weather?
Wow white Christmas! I love your photos especially the frozen bikes, tables and chairs, and those snow footprints! You have a good eye for what is fascinating!

Fascinating to wake up to a snowy morning though friends tell me the postcard-pretty scene can be a hassle and a hazard. In any case, just dropping by to greet you a blessed Christmas :)

Hi Lagalog,
Yes, snow can be a hazard kaya nag-iingat lahat and the snow are being plowed or shoveled para makadaan ang mga tao at sasakyan. Merry Christmas din sa yo!
Hi Witsandnuts,
It was 27 degrees when I went out yesterday so I had to bundle-up and wear my Gore-Tex walking shoes.
Merry Christmas!
Hi Mussolini,
I'm not really bothered by the snow now, parang sanay na. Merry Christmas!

Wow. Surprisingly, Buffalo did not even get hit by this blizzard. We just had clear skies! I guess we stopped importing Canadian snow for the time being!

Hi Linguist,
Ha ha! This is the first time I'm hearing it! But you're right, the storm came from the south so Canada is not at fault this time:)
