Pilipinas In A Nutshell

Who doesn't love a sale?

In less than an hour, I've toured the whole Philippines. My arrival coincided with the recently concluded 20th Philippine Travel Mart at the SM Megamall last weekend, an annual gig that I last visited in 1996. It was supposedly a longer foray into the many booths at the Megatrade Halls to find out trips Beyond The Usual but fatigue from my long flight caught up with me. Even two other travel bloggers who I planned to meet didn't materialize. There I was, hoping against hope to "see" as much without showing my gaping yawn and my drooping eyelids.

Now pack your bags and go!

Since becoming an American citizen two months ago, I arrived technically a foreigner but very much felt at home. Booths from various provinces reminded me of previous visits. "Seeing" some of them again instilled pride in what this beautiful country can offer visitors. I felt doubly proud to see so many Filipinos more than the sprinkling of Caucasians all trying to figure where's the hottest destinations in the archipelago. Undoubtly, it's the Sale Ng Bayan that enraptured itchy feet. Airline tickets were selling like hotcakes and tours booked as if the Philippines will disappear tomorrow. I won't be surprised if someone out there creates a new travel blog later on.
