Flying Food (Part 3)

Cathay Pacific menu

My love affair with Cathay Pacific began in 1999 when I flew with the airline for the first time. It was a Jeddah-Manila flight. After enrolling in their Asia Miles program, I continued flying and amassing miles to the point that my membership was upgraded in 2004 to the Marco Polo Club as a Silver Elite. There were perks - business class check-in, priority baggage handling, access to the lounge, priority boarding, preferential seating and even a personal greeting from the purser once seated onboard!

Of all things I like, it has to be the upgrades that I was fortunate enough to enjoy even when I was booked on Economy Class. No, I never have to use my miles to upgrade. I was simply bumped up for operational reasons. In other words, the flight I was on was oversold that my name was on red alert for an upgrade to Business Class. Most of the time, I just find out about it at the check-in counter but there were instances were my Y boarding pass was changed to J right at the departure gate.

Who doesn't love an upgrade? God knows how I love an upgrade. All these Marco Polo perks has made me a Cathay Pacific fan forever!

I don't know how you do it. I've been flying cathay pacific since 1997. Enrolled in their Marco Polo Club for 2 years now and been flying every six months to the Philippines since then. I've never gotten an upgrade and I'm stuck on green. I love the service and the food though and the fast check in at NAIA.
