Tina Turner Live In Concert

I didn't have turkey for Thanksgiving. I had Tina Turner instead. The Queen of Rock, who just turned 69 years old yesterday, performed for the 2nd night at Newark's Prudential Center to an electrified crowd. It's just not Tina's brilliant performance that shone onstage, it was her effortless ability to connect with her audience that made the night truly indelible. So we sang with her in What's Love Got To Do With It and danced with her in Proud Mary.Advancing age may have slowed down Tina a bit but it's certainly not stopping her. Her legendary legs were still doing the works. She can still do away with swift costume changes. Her gritty-gravelly voice can still fill the arena albeit with less high-octave reach. For all that she's been through, Tina is ageing phenomenally well. She brought the house down all the more during the encore while singing Nutbush City Limits. Leaning over the crowd from the cherry-picker crane that hoisted her from the stage, she wowed everyone to their feet. At some point I thought she might fall off her perch but no, this rock legend obviously has a firm foothold. She sang 20 songs in 2 hours. It seemed to the crowd like she could sing and dance forever.
